2024 Toyota GR Corolla Colors, Cost, Dimensions – After our first circuit of the Utah Motorsports Campus, we exited the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla, beaming from ear to ear. Driving the Circuit Edition, a more deluxe and sportier version, made that grin even wider. Then we boarded the Morizo Edition, a super lightweight limited edition. Our hands were shaking from that third stint. It really is that good. If you’re wondering why a Toyota Corolla and a racetrack are in the same sentence, let us tell you about Gazoo Racing and its newest design.
Toyota’s racing division, Gazoo, is in charge of producing both race cars like the GR010, which competes in Le Mans, and road vehicles like the GR Yaris, which has won accolades from all over the world, and this one: the GR Corolla. Toyota installed the identical G16E-GTS engine, which was inspired by racing, in the larger Corolla in order to entice Americans to buy it. The 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine, which is less in displacement than the one in a standard Corolla, then had its power increased.
2024 Toyota GR Corolla Redesign
Exterior And Interior Design
Even non-car people won’t have trouble telling the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla is distinct from the standard model, despite the fact that it is based on the Corolla Hatchback. The Corolla’s flared fenders give it a wide stance, while the 18-inch wheels fitted with 235/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on the Core and Circuit Editions and wider, stickier 245/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires on the Morizo give it a wide stance. The Circuit and Morizo, however, have the trendiest exterior features, such as a noticeable rear wing and hood vents. Without them, the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla seems to be a hot hatch with three exhausts that is slightly buff-looking.
Some drivers will scroll past this to read about the cost of the GR Corolla, then come back to mock the interior’s seeming “cheapness.” That, however, would be ignoring the point. Unapologetically modeled after the economical commuter car, the Corolla, this cabin is built on a tight budget. Even though the cost of building the 2024 Toyota GR Corolla was significantly higher, most of the money went toward the expensive engine and all-wheel drive technology. But it doesn’t mean the GR’s cabin isn’t attractive.
All grades come standard with the newest infotainment system from Toyota, which has an eight-inch touchscreen. It is connected to eight speakers as part of a JBL system on the Circuit, six speakers on the Core, and only two front speakers on the Morizo in order to reduce weight. From the driver’s seat, a 12.3-inch extra digital gauge cluster exudes high-tech.
The seats retain passengers comfortably on the track and are more substantially reinforced than those in a normal Corolla. While the Circuit and Morizo step it up with Brin-Naub suede that upscales the cabin, the core grades receive basic cloth. A unique shift knob that is covered in leather or suede is also included with the Circuit and Morizo, respectively.
2024 Toyota GR Corolla Engine
In contrast to the GR Supra, which has a BMW engine and a ZF transmission, the GR Corolla is entirely a Toyota product. With 25.2 PSI of boost (26.3 on the Morizo), its 1.6-liter three-pot engine produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft, which is more than the Hyundai Elantra N but admittedly less than the Type R and Golf R. Just keep in mind that the Corolla is smaller and lighter than the Golf and that, because of its all-wheel-drive technology, it will likely be close to the Type R. In relation to that, the GR Corolla’s GR-Four system may distribute power in various ways depending on how you drive. It can split the power front-to-rear 60:40, 50:50, or 30:70 for some tail-happy slides.
The 2024 Toyota GR Corolla will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission, as if the aforementioned features weren’t already interesting enough. The throws are brief but interesting and fulfilling. It has Toyota’s iMT rev-match technology, which makes downshifting in the car on the racetrack less difficult without heel-toe shifting.
The lighter, torqueier, and stickier Morizo can complete the sprint in 4.92 seconds, while Toyota estimates that the lower two grades will reach 60 mph in 4.99 seconds. Reasonable fuel efficiency is 21/28/24 mpg.
2024 Toyota GR Corolla Release Date And Price
The 2024 Toyota GR Corolla is not what we would describe as a “cheap” automobile, but the price seems reasonable given the performance and basic amenities. The standard Core Grade from Toyota is priced at $35,900, which is comparable to the cost of a mid-level Golf GTI or Subaru WRX, despite the former’s lack of all-wheel drive. This grade can be ordered with a $1,180 Performance Package that includes bigger brakes and limited-slip differentials; a $770 Technology Package that includes GPS and JBL audio; and a $500 Cold Weather Package (heated seats and steering wheel). Even with all of its options, the GR Corolla costs less than $40,000. In contrast, a Golf R starts at $44,290 and is not even close to as entertaining.
